A growing number of parents are choosing
to home school their children. Each family has
their own personal reasons for doing so.

  • Overcrowding in public schools
  • Lack of individual attention from teachers and school staff
  • Level of education being offered in the public setting, but private school education is too expensive
  • Focus more on student “making the grade” than student progression
  • Religious reasons or personal family core values
  • Emotional abuse: bullying and peer pressure
  • Classified or Labeled and singled out by peers or teacher
  • Parents desiring to spend more time with their children and families
  • Medical conditions
  • Professional and amateur athletes in training

And many other reasons….Whatever your reason.

Ivy League Educational Services can help
meet your Home Schooling Needs!

By Definition, “a home education program is sequentially progressive instruction of a student in his or her home by his or her parent or guardian.”  (FL statute 228.041).  Therefore you must be your child’s primary instructor or follow the rules and regulations prescribed in the law regarding private schools or private tutors.  If you hold a valid, regular, Florida certificate to teach the subjects or grades of your children, then you may choose this option.

Visit www.MyFloridaEducation.com and follow the shortcut to HS Graduation Requirements.

College-bound students should expect to take these courses to meet the entrance requirements for most Florida colleges: four credits of English; three credits of math, algebra 1 and above; three credits of science; three credits in the social sciences; and two credits in one foreign language. You are responsible for maintaining a portfolio of your student’s work, compiling your own transcript and issuing a diploma. A transcript is simply a list of all the courses a student has completed, along with the grade and credit earned for each. It should also contain the student’s full name, address, date of birth and Social Security number. Homeschooled students are eligible for Bright Futures scholarships. The requirements can be found at www.MyFloridaEducation.com/brfuture or by calling 1-888-827-2004.
